Visited Eaton Hill Wildlife Sanctuary in Sonora Texas yesterday. What a wonderful hiking and nature trail this is, just off Interstate 10, so it's easy and accessible for travelers to stop on their way through the region. And it's free of charge! The sanctuary is quiet, peaceful, beautiful. It is fun to hike the 3 miles or so of trails over slightly rugged terrain that is not too difficult. I tried out my new hiking shoes for the occasion. I suggest wearing a good pair of hiking shoes, bring water, plan about two hours, and plan to be done well before dark! You will see some desert plans, such as cactus and octotillo. I saw a herd of deer, but they ran away before I could snap a picture. There are also a number of exhibits along the trail, including an outlaw camp, an Indian teepee, birding maps and pictures, and a WWII dedication. You'll love it!
